Purified porcine collagen membrane modulates integration of polypropylene mesh implant in a rat model

Old women are expected to undergo pelvic organ prolapse (POP) surgery. Distress caused by POP affects women´s quality of life. Although polypropylene mesh (PM) is considered a good material restore the floor, there concerns about infection and vaginal exposure. This research studies optic properties inflammatory reaction tissue repair induced PM covered porcine collagen membrane (CM). Thirty female rats were shared in two groups: (A) exposed CM (B) alone; five animals each group euthanized at day 7, 14 28 post-operation (POD). Collagen anisotropic analyzed. In 7⍛PO A pushes vascular proliferation on, as lymphocytes fibroblasts infiltration. Group B evidenced amount histiocytes beginning encapsulating. At 14⍛PO keeps characteristics lymphocytic infiltration rounding thin layer fat separating it from muscles layer; multinucleated giant cells crushed wrap fibroblasts. The 28⍛PO revealed big process with expressive presence. shows much trying up polypropylene, considerate decreased infiltration, striated infiltrated implanted area. highly purified showed earlier resolution reaction, better neoangiogenesis more organized host deposition than pure PM.
